The main research areas in the Production technology laboratory are manufacturing technologies, metal cutting and cutting tools, production automation, computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), quality control and quality systems, product development and prototype manufacturing, and tool design and manufacturing.
In thermal lab students are interacted with automobile and energy engineering.Mechanical engineers design and manufacture IC engines for mobile, marine, rail, and stationary applications. Engine design requires a broad knowledge base, including mechanics, electronics, materials, and thermal sciences.This lab is well equipped with Four stroke and two stroke petrol and diesel engine models both working and non working . Facilities are available for research work in fuels and combustion systems, alternative fuels etc.
This lab helps to study the strength and different stresses developing in machine parts under different forces Strength of materials most often refers to various methods of calculating stresses in structural members, such as beams, columns and shafts. The methods that can be employed to predict the response of a structure under loading and its susceptibility to various failure modes may take into account various properties of the materials. The Mechanics of solids lab is equipped with the Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Izod -Charpy test, bending moment calculation etc.
Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design and (CAM) is the use of computer systems to plan, manage, and control the operations of a manufacturing plant through direct or indirect computer interface with plant’s resources.

Fluid mechanics is the branch of physics that studies fluids (liquids, gases, and plasmas) and the forces on them. Fluid mechanics can be divided into fluid statics.Fluid Mechanics is an essential subject in the study of the behaviour of fluids equally when at rest and when in motion whether a house hold application such as the mains water supply, the natural gas supply or industrial such as the design of the body of an automotive car, airplane, train or the provision of electricity from a hydropower plant.
Heat is generated and moved by any use of energy, in everything from computers to automobiles and ventilating systems in buildings. This is an issue in all modern technology, given today’s emphasis on conservation and wise use of energy resources.The heat and mass transfer lab is equipped with various heat exchangers .Stefan boltzmann test , Thermal conductivity test , Natural convection and forced convection test etc.This field touches on power transmission systems, process equipments, thermal controls in manufacturing, environmental controls, aerospace applications, transportation equipments, etc.
Air conditioning is the cooling of indoor air for thermal comfort. An Air Conditioner is an appliance,system or machine designed to stabilize the air temperature and humidity using refrigeration cycle.In Refrigeration and air conditioning lab the students are interacted with the science of human comfort regarding the temperature of air and psychometrics as well. This lab has various tests such as vapour compression test, AC load test, COP test etc. to calculate the different performance parameters. This explains the working of AC and Refrigerator with working models.Some of the requirements are Ice plant(30 kg /Day),mini cold storage plant etc..
Engineering is a field of applied science and for applying the science one must understand the different laws of science with practical knowledge.Mechanical engineering labs are well equipped with advance machines which are all time available for the students for attaining the better practical knowledge.Mechanical engineers focus on the behaviour and selection of materials preferably before they become part of machines or complex structures. The material selection depends on the properties of materials and their effect on design, fabrication, quality and performance. This lab helps to study the materials specific properties such as strength, ductility, resistance to fracture, fatigue, corrosion etc.
